'Survivor' Finale Tops Sunday As 'Revenge' Wraps Sluggishly - Variety

Sunday remains a lackluster night for the Big Four, with no show even sniffing a 3 demo rating last night and ABC seeing sluggish finale scores for 'Once Upon a Time' and, especially, 'Revenge.' CBS prevailed with its two-hour finale and post-show of 'Survivor: Caramoan.'

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, ABC followed 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (1.4 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) with the second-season finales of 'Once Upon a Time' (2.2/7 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) and 'Revenge' (1.6/4, 6.0 million viewers overall), the latter a two-hour installment.

'Once' placed second in its timeslot and matched its week-ago score, but will finish down about 30% from where it wrapped its rookie season in the same timeslot a year ago. And 'Revenge' was actually down from last week's 1.8 rating, though by airing for two hours (replacing the ineffectual 'Red Widow'), ABC had one of its stronger showings on a Sunday in a while. Final averages will suggest that 'Revenge' had a decent season ' it was up vs. its Wednesday average of a year ago heading into Sunday ' but ABC was clearly hoping it would do better as it slotted it to replace 'Desperate Housewives' as the Sunday anchor.

At CBS, '60 Minutes' (1.5/6 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall) was up week to week, followed by the two-hour conclusion of the 26th edition of 'Survivor' (2.6/8 in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall) and reunion show (2.2/6 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall); because the finale extended until about 10:10 p.m., its numbers should rise a bit while the reunion's should dip. 'Survivor' was Sunday's No. 1 broadcast program in 18-49 and 25-54. The spring edition of the show last year finished with a 2.9 demo rating and 10.3 million viewers overall.

Fox opened with an hourlong episode of 'The Cleveland Show' (0.9/3 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall), which won't be returning to the net next season, followed by original episodes of 'The Simpsons' (1.9/6 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall), 'Bob's Burger's' (1.6/5 in 18-49, 3.3million viewers overall), 'Family Guy' (2.4/7 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) and 'American Dad' (1.9/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall). These were the season finales for 'Bob's Burgers' and 'American Dad,' with 'The Simpsons' and 'Family Guy' concluding next Sunday.

NBC's numbers are subject to revision due to a roughly 15-minute golf overrun. From 7 to 9 p.m., the net's stations avergaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall for the golf and a repeat of 'The Voice.' And from 9 to 11 p.m., on time in all markets, 'Celebrity Apprentice' averaged a 1.3/3 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall; impacted by the 'Survivor' and 'Revenge' finales, it hit a season low. 'Apprentice' is expected to return to NBC, though.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS, 2.2/7; ABC, 1.7/5; Fox, 1.6/5; NBC, 1.1/3; Univision, 0.7/2.

In total viewers: CBS, 9.6 million; ABC, 6.4 million; NBC, 4.0 million; Fox, 3.4 million; Univision, 2.0 million.
